The economic climate has made it very difficult to sell your house these days. This has been especially accurate for several areas of Florida such as Sarasota County. Although it does indeed appear that the bottom has been hit and prices have stabalized, the fact is, it is still not going to be easy to sell your Sarasota home. Therefore, if you truly want to sell a home in Sarasota you ought to be listed the local multiple listing service known as the Mid-Florida Regional MLS.

Placing your Sarasota home in the local multiple listing service is the single best way for your house to be seen by the most people possible.

Though you may not realize this, any time you go on the internet to find homes for sale on several real estate sites, you are looking by means of a multiple listing service. And, just as you are able to see all those homes, other people are able to see your Sarasota home once it is successfully listed in the Mid-Florida Regional MLS.

Unfortunately, to get your house listed in the multiple listing service, you will have to go through a licensed realtor or broker. You can either agree to pay them a percentage of the selling price (usually 6%), or you can pay a single flat rate by using one of the many flat fee listing services available in the area.

Since nearly all realtors charge 6% (sometimes even as much as 7%) to list your Sarasota home, you can actually save yourself a lot of money by using a flat fee MLS service. Unfortunately, not all real estate agents offer this flat fee service AND not all flat fee services are the same. Several do nothing more than place your home in the multiple listing service and that's it, while some provide many extras such as lockboxes, "for sale" signs, and contract forms. Some flat fee MLS services may even offer virtual tours and open houses. For that reason, make sure you check around to get yourself the best possible deal to help you sell your Sarasota home.
